Duration of Internship –
I have completed my course of internship under the guidance of Advocate Satyendra Agrawal, in Calcutta High Court from 1st November, 2019 to 15th December 2019 (45 days).
Application Procedure –
Firstly, it was a phone call conversation after which he gave me a date to meet him for an interview and to understand the way he works in the High Court so that I’m aware of the works and responsibilities. Apart from High Court cases he also deals with the cases of Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) Kolkata Region, National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and others.
Major Roles and Responsibility –
The main work I did was observe the case hearing, making notes about them, finding similar judgments related to that issue. At times I was given the work of drafting the old cases so that I know the process and have command over the drafting. Apart from that other necessary tasks I coordination with the ongoing work of Sir. The knowledge I gained during the internship will definitely help me in analysis and research work in future, because I have learnt more or less with the process of AFT, NCLT and High Court and how they work.
Working Environment –
There was nothing negative about the working environment. Whenever I used to face any difficulty while undergoing a task, sir always helped me to do the work. I made many new connections and contacts with other respected senior advocates too. I also got the opportunity to understand the working of different tribunals which enhanced my knowledge a lot. To cover all such work place people needs different internships, but I did the same in a single one.
Stipend –
There was no stipend provided for the internship, because it was just for a month.
Overall Experience –
It was a great experience working with such a knowledgeable person. Not only was sir proficient in the laws but the basic moral things about life too. During Sundays, I rather preferred to go to his chamber so that I understand everything in well manner. His chamber was full of briefs of different matters of different laws. Many times I use to read them to understand the law and getting the basic information about it.
