The key functions undertaken by the company include Digitalisation of Business Operations, Business Applications, Managed Services, Cloud and Infrastructure, Smart Assets and Internet of Things, etc.
Roles and Responsibilities
I had the opportunity to intern under the legal department, headed by Mrs. Preeti Maheshwari, in their Dubai office. I was first briefed about the general working of the Company and the various activities undertaken by them, along with the legal aspects involved. Primarily, the legal department dealt with the various contracts that the Company enters into with Contractors, Subcontractors, Customers, etc.
Initially, I was told to briefly read through the Commercial Companies Law to get an idea of the different types of companies that exist within the UAE as well as the labour and employment laws. Later, I was able to review and examine various contracts that the company entered into.I was also allowed to sit in and observe meetings wherein negotiations took place for contracts that the company had signed with a foreign suppliers. In addition to this, I was also able to research briefly on topics like the GDPR, Intellectual Property Rights, and the Commercial Transactions Law of the UAE. Other tasks that were assigned to me included compilation and extraction of information from Non-Disclosure Agreements the company had entered into and comparing contracts that were renewed by the other contracting party to point out any additions, amendments or deletion.
Overall Experience
Upon the completion of my internship period, I gained insight into the various contracts that companies involved in digital operations enter into. The various important clauses and terms of such agreements were identified and the standard language used in such contracts were observed. I was also able to learn the processes and functions that occur within a company and how the legal departments in such companies function. I also learnt about the Business environment in the UAE and the laws in place to ensure its smooth functioning.
