Major Roles and Responsibilities
My main responsibilities during the internship included attending court proceedings and preparing summaries on cases, conferring with clients and other parties involved to gather case information, taking part in meetings, reviewing legal information, and proofing documents.
Working Environment
Everyone at the office was welcoming and cooperative. My guide helped me whenever there was any difficulty. There is no work pressure so one gets the opportunity to learn.
Highlight of Internship
Running from one courtroom to the other which is located at the opposite end of the building, keeping track of all the cases of the particular day.
The highlight of the internship was when I got the chance to assist Mr. Satyaraj Sir during a high profile case of an Australian client regarding Trademark Infringement.
Overall experience
A law student must intern at a High Court, at least once, to understand how the system works. What we learn from our books is very much different than what one can experience standing in a court room. One can watch and learn court manners and how the court proceedings are conducted.
Overall it was a great experience working with Mr. Satyaraj Banerjee. He taught me how to file for recovery of money suit, bail petition.
