Moldo talks to ease the fire around Asian Giants

Indian and Chinese high-level army delegation held diplomatic talks at Moldo to discuss Border issues.

Moldo hosted Lt. General Harinder Singh from the Indian side and Major General from Liu Lin to sought the escalation between the two countries as border face off became a zone of fury.

Chinese intrusion inside the LAC and India’s assertiveness is nothing new and Beijing has been alarming India to back off of what it sees as a Chinese territory. This time the centre stage of the showdown was Galwan Valley and Pangong Lake. Visuals from various sources even show the building of barracks alongside Galwan valley with Beijing signalling a forward policy of its assertiveness.

Since 2012, these escalations have been directed led to stand offs four times and according to US administration it is a sign of Chinese assertiveness. According to Ashley Tellis, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, Beijing’s concerns “appear to have grown since the August 2019 Indian decision to make Ladakh a federally-administered territory”. Beijing has moved into disputed territories that did not host a continual Chinese presence as recently as January 2020.

Ministry of External Affairs on 7th June reiterated the results of Moldo, “India and China have agreed to peacefully resolve the situation in the border areas in accordance with various bilateral agreement” in a statement signalling that 70th year of diplomatic relationship will usher new era in the lives of Indo Sino People.

However, it will be difficult to swallow the stable phenomenon which Moldo offers if the circumstances at Pangong Lake and Galwan Valley may erupt again and escalate even further than Doklam standoff. Executive action from the Indian side is needed to permanently switch off the gears of this very engine of Disputed territory.

Delhi High Court inaugurates two more virtual courts to deal with on-spot traffic violations

Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, two more virtual courts dealing with “on-spot traffic challans” were e-inaugurated in Delhi.

The court will be manned by the officers of the rank of Metropolitan Magistrate.

It was on 26 July, 2019 when the first such virtual court in our country was generated by the Delhi Traffic police with the help of e-challan application developed by the National Informatics Centre.

We are fighters: Morgan after rejection of equal back pay claim

Seeking back pay of $66 million under the US Equal Pay Act the United states women’s national soccer team (USWNT) suffered a huge setback.

Star players Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan both were surprised by Judge Klausner’s decision holding that their case for claiming equal wages, was unwarranted because there was evidence the women had previously turned down an offer in the Collective Bargaining Agreement negotiations to be paid along the lines of the US men’s team.

To which Rapinoe said, “The men’s contract was never offered to us and certainly not the same amount of money”. Adding that, “I think so many women can understand what this feeling is of going into a negotiation, knowing equal pay is not on the table, knowing anywhere close to your male counterparts is not even on the table “.

While star Morgan said: “We were just shocked. This decision was out of left field for us. I think for both sides it was very unexpected. We will definitely be appealing and moving forward. If anyone knows anything about the heart of this team, we are fighters and we will continue to fight together for this.”

USWNT clinched back to back World Cup titles and has been a constant talent factory for women soccer across the globe. USWNT ‘s case might spark many feminist-based organizations to come forward and plead for the cause which has dethroned them for their actual status since centuries.

Home guards and NCC to act as second line of defence: MHA

Ministry of home affairs has released an order confirming the role Homeguards and NCC might play in the COVID 19 battle. Both the forces along with Civil defence can act as a steam off for Police personnel which has suffered the most in the fight against COVID.

The Order released by MHA stated that to ensure sustainable control strategy for COVID19, police forces need to prepare “an effective second line of defence to make up for the police personnel who may be rendered ineffective due to COVID infection during the pandemic”.

“Home Guards, Civil Defence, NCC cadets, Scouts and Guides and Student Police Cadets may be utilised in areas where there are not imminent law and order issues. They can especially be of help in maintaining order at the relief centres and in facilitating the maintenance of supply chain and for coordinating other essential services, ” it added.

While it is likely that a majority of police personnel are deployed for attending to COVID-l9 related duties and other policing duties, Head of Police Forces (HoPFs) may consider the option of Work from Home for personnel not deployed on frontline and where feasible.

It has also asked police to adopt a humane approach in enforcing lockdown specially towards poor people. While performing COVID related duties, the Police Security personnel have been advised to help general public and deal with them with empathy and compassion especially with the weaker sections of the society.

It has asked police to strictly apply self-quarantine rules to its members when needed. It has also asked states to give police all necessary protective gear including face shields.

China has history of infecting the world – United States

United States’ Secretary of state Mike Pompeo on Sunday said “enormous evidence” showed the new coronavirus originated in a lab in China. Pompeo went further than Trump, citing “enormous” evidence that the virus originated in a Wuhan lab.

“China has a history of infecting the world and running substandard laboratories,” Pompea stated. He said that early Chinese efforts to downplay the coronavirus amounted to “a classic Communist disinformation effort. That created enormous risk. President Trump is very clear: we’ll hold those responsible accountable.”

There has been growing discomfort between the two global powerhouses and has huge mistrust between them. This mistrust and discomfort were once evident at the time of Cold War between the US and USSR which led to severe global institutional crisis. US accusing WHO and going further by hindering the funding is one such step.

Globally the virus has been taking a toll on lives and now it’s killing the world order and institutions of governance. Pompeo’s comments were reportedly called ‘insane’ by the Chinese media and have previously called him a ‘clown’ along with Steve Bannon.

Modernity calls for Unity and post modernism calls for propaganda and vendetta. Both the superpowers need to understand the need of the hour not only for now but for generations to come for a peaceful global order
